FW: [scholarsportal] Scholars Portal Search / Illumina Upgrade onFriday morning
In brief, there will be an upgrade to the Illumina software on Scholars
Portal starting early Friday morning (Mar 3) and should be up & running by 9 am.
Most of the users will be unaffected; they will be redirected to some of the
other CSA sites. People trying to use some of the trial local loads on
Scholars Portal (Wilson, Ebsco) and the ejournal search will probably have
to wait a bit.
While the message points out this is the last site to be done (ie the bugs
should be worked out) there are some differences at the OSP site that may
cause shakiness during Friday.

We're going to have to bite the bullet and schedule an update of the
Illumina software on Friday morning. The update adds a new level of
"tabs" to the results screens, better separating publications from
other resources such as Web sites and the new Scholar Profiles. It
also introduces a new "pane" for the display of Scholar Profiles that
groups scholars into research areas, allowing users to explore
relationships between researchers based on common areas of study.
We have been putting off the update because of pressures surrounding
Reading Week, but we are now the only mirror running without the
update and we need to bring our code in synch with the other servers.
So, beginning after midnite this Thursday (ie. Friday morning around
2am) we will redirect all connections to the main CSA server in the
US. When all user sessions are expired on our server, we'll begin
the upgrade. CSA has indicated that we should be up and running by
9am on Friday morning.
Please forward this note to any local mailing lists at your site to
give people a "heads up".
