Very slow response time from U.S. servers
Library staff have reported major network response-time problems connecting to American sites today, including information providers to the Library such as Blackwell-Synergy.
IST has just reported that this is due to a fibre-cut in the Chicago area affecting a major US ISP provider Cogent. An ongoing status report for the problem is available at:
http://status.cogentco.com/
And, about the time this was posted Cogent was getting back on line. Service seems to be back to normal speeds now.
